4th T20I: Pakistan seal series 3-1 after Fakhar Zamnan, Mohammad Nawaz star in 3-wicket win vs South Africa

Pakistan finished only its 2nd T20I series win in South Africa when it made an all-round attempt on Friday at SuperSport Park in Centurion to beat the hosts by 3 wickets in the 4th and final T20I. After winning the ODI series 2-1, Pakistan won the T20I series 3-1 to complete a successful tour of the Rainbow Nation.

It was also Pakistan’s 10th win in their last 14 T20I games as former world champions continue to impress the shortest format of the game in the run-up to this year’s T20 World Cup.

4. T20I, South Africa v Pakistan: Highlights

Pakistan had already sealed an unbeatable 2-1 lead in the 4-match series after captain Babar Azam came with me A record of 122 out of 59 balls after Mohammad Rizwan added a 197-run opening stand to help them shoot down a 204-run target in just 18 overs in the 3rd T20I. However, the skipper was unable to implement a start (24) after losing his opening partner Rizwan for 0 and chasing a below-average total of 145 in the 4th T20I.

However, Fakhar Zaman, who was the star of her ODI series win, rose to hit a 34-ball 60, cracking 4 sixes and 6 limits. In a place where most batsmen struggled, Fakhar was the best at his game, leading the attack to an inexperienced South African bowling attack that did without the two best pacemakers in Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.

However, Pakistan suffered a midfield breakdown that went from 98 for 2 to 129 for 7, with Mohammad Hafeez (10), Haiden Ali (3), Asif Ali (5) and Faheem Ashraf (7) not making the scorers much trouble .

Mohammad Nawaz remained calm, however, hitting a 21-ball 25, including six winners in the final, to get Pakistan across the finish line.

Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali deliver with the ball for Pakistan

Earlier in the day, South Africa got off to a good start with Janneman Malan and Rassie van der Dussen sewing a 57-run stand for the 2nd wicket in just 39 balls, but the hosts imploded after Faheem Ashraf and Haris Rauf removed their two batsmen .

Van der Dusseen hit a 36-ball 52, but the inexperienced middle order collapsed against the high-quality Pakistani bowling attack.

Faheem Ashraf was the bowler’s choice with numbers 3/17 while Hasan Ali also picked up 3 wickets. Haris Rauf finished with numbers 2/18 while Mohamad Nawaz and Shaheen Afridi each picked up a wicket.
