73,600 Covid vaccination centres operational in India on Monday, highest till date


India experienced the highest Covid Vaccination Centers (CVCs) ever operated with 73,600 CVCs in one day on Monday. That is 28,600 more than the average of 45,000 functional CVCs across the country per day.

In India, more than 31 lakh vaccine doses were given by 8 p.m. on Monday. Of the beneficiaries, approximately 21.7 lakh received their first dose and 9.3 lakh the second dose, according to the government’s preliminary report.

Vaccinations in the workplace also contributed to the high number of beneficiaries that day.

The cumulative number of vaccine doses given in the country since then The vaccination campaign started on January 16th is now over 12.69 crore.

Increase in oxygen-assisted beds at AIIMS

In addition, the government directed all All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) hospitals across the country to increase the number of beds with oxygen-assisted beds and intensive care units (ICU).

These include AIIMS in New Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Mangalagiri, Nagpur, Bhopal, JIPMER in Puducherry and PGIMER in Chandigarh.

Of 1,448 oxygen-assisted beds in these hospitals, the number increased by 2,113. The beds in the intensive care unit were increased from 519 to 676.
