Bengal election: CM Banerjee accuses BJP of tapping her phone after audio tape release


After a tape of a conversation between West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and a TMC leader was released by the BJP, Banerjee claimed the BJP tapped her phone at an election rally in Purba Bardhaman district on Saturday.

Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of tapping their phone calls at an election rally in Galsi, Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal on Saturday. She said she would order the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the matter.

A Tape on which the Prime Minister is supposed to be heard The BJP announced on Friday that the candidate of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) from Sitalkuchi would hold a rally with the bodies of the victims of the fire in Cooch Behar. The TMC claimed that such a conversation never took place and called it a “hoax”.

“You [BJP] tap my phone calls. All telephones are bugged by the central government. It’s a great scam. I’ll order a CID request and find out who tapped my phone. BJP makes it known that they did. I will find out for sure. I will not leave her. I won’t let the Sitalkuchi fire, ”explained Banerjee.

On the 10th of April four people died when Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel opened fire outside a polling station in Cooch Behar district. CISF staff were allegedly attacked by locals before they retaliated by opening fire.

Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of “eavesdropping on everyday conversations” at their rally on Saturday. The TMC Supremo also claimed that the central forces “are involved in such acts with some agents”.

Prime Minister Banerjee said her party would form the state government for the third year in a row with a two-thirds majority. She said the BJP cannot compete with the ruling TMC’s performance in terms of development programs.

The The last three phases of the elections in West Bengal will take place on April 22nd, 26th and 29th. The votes will be counted on May 2nd.
