Delhi: Covid claims 348 lives in last 24 hours, tally of active cases crosses 92,000-mark


Delhi on Friday reported the highest single-day number of coronavirus deaths since the pandemic began. According to the health department, 348 patients in Delhi have succumbed to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, compared with 306 on Thursday.

In the state capital, there was a slight decrease with 24,331 new confirmed cases. The number was over 26,000 fewer than 24 hours ago. The positivity rate also decreased to 32.43 percent of 36.24 percent on Thursday.

In the past 24 hours, 23,572 patients also recovered from the infection.

Delhi now has 92,029 active cases of Covid-19. This is the highest number of active cases of infection in the state capital since the beginning of the pandemic.

A total of 75,037 samples were tested for Covid-19 on Friday using 43,711 RT-PCR / True Nat tests and 31,326 rapid antigen tests. Delhi has so far tested 1,66,31,245 samples for coronavirus.

There are currently 48,502 people in domestic isolation in Delhi while the number of security zones is 23,561.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Delhi Government, 28,44,055 eligible recipients have been vaccinated in the state capital, of which 67,424 in the last 24 hours. The number includes 23,14,461 recipients who received the first dose and 5,29,594 recipients who received both doses of Covid-19 vaccines approved for emergency use in India.

Delhi has so far reported a total of 9,89,679 confirmed cases of Covid-19. This includes 8,75,109 patients who have recovered and 13,541 who have succumbed to the infection.

The death rate (CFR) of Covid-19 patients in Delhi is now 1.38 percent, while the cumulative positivity rate is 5.9 percent.
