DELHI HC REPRIMANDS GOVT

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Supreme Court asked Arvind Kejriwal’s government after seeing the controversial order as soon as possible if it tried to induce the court to issue such orders.

The court said it had not made such a request and instructed the Delhi government to withdraw the order.

“They don’t have oxygen for anyone and they give us 100 beds. Stop giving left, right and center orders and take corrective action immediately,” the court said.

The court reprimanded the government for passing such an order, asking, “What are you trying to convey? What is this protection? Did you do this to appease us?”

The court also asked the Delhi government to provide a response on the matter and take immediate corrective action.

WHAT WAS THE ORDER?

On Monday, the Delhi government announced that it would set up a Covid care facility for judges and judicial officers of the Delhi Supreme Court in Ashok in the Chanakyapuri area, as several judges from the District Court and the Supreme Court tested positive for Covid. 19 in the past.

According to the orderThe facility would have been administered by Chanakyapuri Primus Hospital.

Geeta Grover, Magistrate of the subdivision, Chanakyapuri, had given orders to set up the facility “after receiving a motion from the Delhi Supreme Court to set up a Covid care facility for judges and judicial officers of the court”.

However, the Delhi Supreme Court dismissed the case, saying: “No one has been notified of this.”

“That is very misleading … Can we as an institution say that you are creating a facility for us or reserving that many beds for us? Wouldn’t it be obviously discriminatory? It is unthinkable that we as an institution would give preference to people die on the way. “
