The Delhi police averted a major crisis in Mansa Ram Hospital on Sunday, where there was almost no oxygen and 35 Covid-19 patients were being supplied with oxygen. When the hospital contacted the Delhi police, 20 cylinders were provided.

Additional DCP (suburb) Sudhanshu Dhama said: “On Sunday around 1:30 pm, the director Rajesh Dabas of Mansa Ram Hospital on Nangloi Nazafgarh Road in the jurisdiction of PS Nihal Vihar received an emergency call that the hospital has 35 Covid patients Oxygen assistance. Your oxygen supply was depleted and the available oxygen supply will not last longer than an hour. He also stated that he had contacted everyone concerned and was unable to get a response due to a lack of oxygen. “

Executives were immediately informed of the situation. Sudhanshu Dhama coordinated with several officials and directed two teams from Nihal Vihar to rush to Mundka and Bawana to arrange oxygen bottles from suppliers.

There was also a shortage of oxygen bottles at the Bawana facility. However, 10 cylinders were immediately made available to the hospital and another 10 were made available after 30 minutes. PS Nihal Vihar’s police team escorted the vehicle to Mansa Ram Hospital with 20 oxygen cylinders.

Delhi on Sunday reported an increase of 25,462 new coronavirus cases and 161 deaths, the highest daily number since the pandemic began.

The chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, said on Sunday that the positivity rate had increased from 24 to 30 percent in just 24 hours as the number of Covid-19 infections and withdrawals had increased rapidly added that hospital beds, oxygen and life-saving drugs like remdesivir and tocilizumab are rapidly running out for patients in the city.

Kejriwal also said there are fewer than 100 intensive care beds available in hospitals to treat coronavirus patients. Currently, only 1,800 of the central government’s 10,000 beds are reserved for Covid-19 patients, he said.
