Former Maruti MD Jagdish Khattar passes away


Former managing director of Maruti Udyog Limited, Jagdish Khattar, passed away on Monday due to cardiac arrest. He was 78 years old.

Jagdish Khattar, former managing director of Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL), passed away on Monday due to cardiac arrest. He was 78 years old.

Maruti Suzuki Chairman RC Bhargava confirmed Khattar’s death to CNBC-TV18, saying it was a deep personal loss.

“This is a deep personal loss and a great shock. We had worked together for many years. He is someone who has done Maruti a lot of good, ”Bhargava told the publication.

Khattar worked at MUL from 1993 to 2007. He joined Maruti in 1993 as Marketing Director and became a candidate for government in 1999 and a candidate for Suzuki Motor Corporation MD in May 2002.

Prior to MUL, Khattar was an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with over 37 years of experience. He was joint secretary in the Union Ministry of Steel and held important administrative positions in the government of Uttar Pradesh.

After stepping down from MUL in 2007, Khattar founded Carnation Auto, a multi-brand automotive sales and service company, in 2008.
