Kerala makes RT-PCR test report or 14-day quarantine mandatory for travellers coming from other states


The Kerala government on Sunday issued new guidelines for travelers entering the state. Regardless of the vaccination status, it is mandatory for everyone to either undergo a Covid RT-PCR test or to remain in quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

The government of Kerala issued an order on Sunday requiring all travelers from other states to either undergo a Covid RT-PCR test or to remain isolated in the room for two weeks upon arrival.

Regardless of vaccination status, all domestic travelers must undergo the RT-PCR test either within 48 hours of entering Kerala or upon arrival in the state.

Individuals who take the test prior to arriving in the state must have their negative test reports with them. Those who are tested on arrival must remain isolated until their test report is available.

Travelers who do not undergo the RT-PCR test must be quarantined in a room for two weeks after entering the state.

All domestic travelers must also register on the Covid-19 Jagratha online portal.

In the meantime, the guidelines for international travelers entering the state remain unchanged. All international travelers must follow the current central government protocol.

Covid surge

These new guidelines were issued by the government of Kerala to prevent a sharp increase in Covid cases due to Introduction of variants of the virus in the state.

As of Sunday, Kerala recorded 18,257 new Covid-19 cases and 25 deaths in a 24-hour period.
