The Allahabad High Court did ordered a lock in five cities of Uttar Pradesh by April 26, taking into account the prevailing situation in Covid-19. The lockdown was ordered in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur and Gorakhpur.
The lockdown will take effect this evening and will last until April 26th.
All facilities, whether state or private, with the exception of financial institutions and finance departments, medical and health services, industrial and scientific facilities, essential services including community functions and public transportation, will remain closed until April 26, according to an official order.
All shopping complexes, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, grocery stores and other commercial businesses will also remain closed during the lockdown. However, the medical businesses continue to operate.
Which remains closed in 5 UP cities during the lockdown
(1) All facilities, whether governmental or private, with the exception of financial institutions and finance departments, medical and health services, industrial and scientific institutions, essential services including municipal functions and public transportation, will remain closed until April 26th. The judiciary will, however, function at its own discretion;
2. All shopping complexes and shopping centers will be closed until April 26th.
3. All grocery stores and other commercial stores with the exception of medical supply stores with more than three employees will remain closed until April 26th.
4th All hotels, restaurants and even the small restaurants in Thelas etc. will be closed until April 26th.

5. All institutions such as educational institutions and other institutions related to other disciplines and activities, be it governmental, semi-governmental or private, will remain closed until April 26th, including their teachers and trainers as well as other staff (this instruction applies to the whole of Uttar Pradesh ).
6th No social events and gatherings, including weddings, are permitted until April 26th. In the case of already firm marriages, however, the necessary further permission would have to be obtained from the district judge of the district concerned. Meetings would be limited to 25 people and the relevant district judge will rule with due regard to the current situation of the implications of Covid-19, including notification of safety zones in the area where such a marriage is to take place.
7th All religious activities of any kind in public are to be suspended until April 26th.
8th. All religious institutions of any kind are instructed to remain closed until April 26th.
9. All street vendors, including greengrocers, milk sellers and bread sellers, must leave the street by 11 a.m. every day by April 26th.
10. The containment zones are reported daily in two leading newspapers in Hindi and English, which are widely distributed in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar / Dehat and Gorakhpur districts.
11. All public movement on streets would be completely restricted subject to the instructions above. Movements are only allowed in the event of medical assistance and emergencies
12th In addition to the above instructions, we are instructing the state government to be robust in implementing the current vaccination program.
What will be allowed
1. Medical shops.
2. Food stories with less than 3 workers.
3. Financial institutions and finance departments.
4th Medical and health services.
5. Industrial and scientific institutions.
6th Basic services including community functions and public transportation.
7th Already established marriages with the necessary approval of the district judge of the district concerned.
8th. Exercise for medical assistance and emergencies.
The lockdown in five Uttar Pradesh cities comes at a time when the state has seen an unprecedented surge in daily cases of coronavirus. On Sunday UP registered over 30,000 new cases of coronavirus in a period of 24 hours. The new surge of 30,596 cases was UP’s highest single-day record since the pandemic began, bringing the state’s active case count to 1.91,457 on Sunday.
