PM Narendra Modi attacked Mamata Banerjee for “politicizing” the fire incident in Cooch Behar

PM Narendra Modi attacked Mamata Banerjee at a rally in Asansol for “politicizing” the Cooch Behar fire the day after the Prime Minister’s audio clip – allegedly proposing a rally with the bodies of Cooch Behar’s victims – was released .

At a rally in Asansol in electoral West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “A tape came out that shows Didi [Mamata Banerjee] makes politics about it [Cooch Behar firing incident]. Didi asks for a procession with corpses. Mamata makes politics over the corpse, “said PM Modi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee’s alleged audio clip of the rally in which Cooch Behar fired the bodies of the victims.

In the audio clip, Mamata Banerjee can be heard in conversation with TMC Sitalkuchi candidate Partha Pratim Ray, who proposes a rally with the bodies of Cooch Behar fires victims.

A BJP delegation has asked the Bengali election supervisor Ariz Aftab to take note of Mamata Banerjee’s audio clip about the dismissal of Cooch Behar, as “such a move could lead to more tension in the state”.

While the Trinamool Congress has already labeled the audio clip a “hoax” and said no such conversation took place, the BJP said the sound was “purposely made viral by other Mamata Banerjee party members”.

“The intention is to secure their political interest by polarizing the voices of a particular community according to religious considerations. The fact that a private conversation between two people has been made publicly available constitutes a deeply rooted conspiracy,” according to the BJP- Delegation read in a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer.
