The internet was utterly surprised after a man from Cooch Behar, West Bengal, claimed that “coronavirus will go away” when people stand in the sun. The video of the man speaking to a Lallantop reporter during a public meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in early April went viral on social media.
The man, seen without a mask, spoke to the reporter about the coronavirus pandemic in the middle of the gathering and said, “Jaise hum abhi dhoop ke neeche baitha hai, use Corona Bhaag Jaayega. Corona se hum nahi darrte hain. Dhoop my baithne se jitna paseena niklega, usse utna corona bhaagega. Yeh humaara vishwas hai, isliye hum mask nahi lagate hain (I sit under the sun to make the coronavirus go away. I am not afraid of the coronavirus. The more you sweat while sitting in the sun, the more the coronavirus can’t do you touch. This is my belief and so I don’t wear a mask. “
The video has gone viral on social media with more than one lakh call so far, and netizens have been amazed at the man’s bizarre claim.
India is currently surging from the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. In the 24 hours that ended at 8 a.m. on Thursday, India recorded 2,00,739 cases and over 1,000 deaths from coronavirus.
10 states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan, are among the worst-hit states by the pandemic, accounting for 80.76 percent of new infections reported in a day .
Wearing a mask outdoors is imperative as it will prevent you from contracting coronavirus and protect others as well.
