Nashik hospital tragedy is heart-wrenching, says PM Modi; Rahul Gandhi, others condole deaths


Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Chairman Rahul Gandhi and several Union Ministers and leaders of various political parties have approved this Death of 22 patients in Zakir Hussain Municipal Hospital in Nashik, Maharashtra.

The 22 patients died on Wednesday after an interruption in the hospital’s supply of medical oxygen after an oxygen reservoir leak.

All patients had ventilators and oxygen supplies, which were interrupted after sailing.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Nashik tragedy as “heartbreaking”.

“The tragedy at a Nashik hospital over an oxygen tank leak is heartbreaking. It worries about the loss of life. Condolences to those who were left behind at this sad hour,” tweeted PM Modi.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said the Nashik deaths were “extremely tragic” and expressed condolences to the families who had suffered.

“The news of the death of the patients at the Zakhir Hussain Hospital in Nashik is extremely tragic. My deepest condolences go to the families who have suffered damage. I appeal to the government and party officials to provide all possible help,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Former Prime Minister and opposition leader of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, had asked for a detailed investigation into the tragedy.

“What happened in Nashik is terrible. I demand that other patients be helped and transferred if necessary. We demand a detailed investigation,” he was quoted by the ANI news agency as saying.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said the Maharashtra government will investigate the matter and conduct a thorough investigation. “We’ll make a statement later after the investigation is over,” Tope said.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted: “Devastating news from Nashik that precious lives have been lost to hospital oxygen leaks. I am deeply tormented by the loss of life from this tragic incident. In this hour of grief my thoughts are with you Bereaved. “

Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is also a MP from Maharashtra, said he was “concerned” at hearing about the Nashik tragedy.

“I am concerned about the loss of life from oxygen leakage from a tanker in Nashik. I offer my deepest condolences to the families,” Gadkari tweeted.
