Oxygen Express with 70 tons of life-saving gas arrived in Delhi on Tuesday morning. Oxygen is now being paid out to various hospitals by the Delhi government, officials said.

The first Oxygen Express train to Delhi with around 70 tons of life-saving gasoline reached the state capital early Tuesday morning.

“#OxygenExpress has reached Delhi from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, with oxygen for patients in the capital. Indian Railways leaves no stone unturned in our joint fight against Covid-19 and ensures sufficient availability of life-saving resources across the country,” said Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on twitter.

That oxygen is now being paid out to various hospitals by the Delhi government, officials said. Officials added that the Delhi government must Set up road tankers to bring the oxygen to hospitals.

In the past few days, hospitals across Delhi and its suburbs have sought help on social media and other platforms, highlighting their lack of oxygen supply to treat virus patients who have been hospitalized.

With regard the high oxygen demand in the country after an exponential increase in virus casesThe railroads decided to run Oxygen Express trains to carry liquid medical oxygen and cylinders around the country. Tankers are transported on flat cars by trains to quickly deliver medical oxygen.

While the railroads said they would carry medical oxygen from Angul, Kalingnagar, Rourkela and Raigarh to Delhi and the NCR region, there is no information about the second train to the capital.

Delhi saw the highest increase in the number of Covid-19 deaths in a day, with 380 other people who succumbed to the infection on Monday, while the positivity rate was over 35 percent, according to the city’s health department.
