Sunrisers Hyderabad prevailed on Wednesday with a win against Punjab Kings in Match 14 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Sunrisers openers Jonny Bairstow and David Warner pursued the lowest target of this year’s IPL and laid a solid platform with their 73-year partnership. Then Kane Williamson joined the action and led the team in the 19th with the unbroken partnership with the second wicket to victory worth 48 runs.

Bairstow didn’t become the top scorer at 63, while Warner made 37 out of so many balls. Williamson, who played his first game of the season, remained undefeated on the 16th.

PBKS vs SRH, IPL 2021: Highlights

The win helped SRH score their first points of the season and topple KKR from 5th place in the table thanks to a better net run rate than the co-owner of Shah Rukh Khan’s team. PBKS swapped places with SRH and is now the last placed team, courtesy of the third loss in a row.

This was only the third time that a team managed to successfully pursue a goal from 8 games in the Chepauk in the IPL 2021.

However, SRH’s win in the first half was achieved by the bowlers, particularly Khaleel Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma.

Punjab’s innings never really got going as they kept losing wickets from the start. Captain KL Rahul suffered a rare failure and took the lead for 4 in their fourth game against Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Rahul crossed the 5000-run mark in T20 cricket after taking a single from the game’s first ball. He became the second fastest batsman after his PBKS teammate Chris Gayle who accomplished the feat, beating Virat Kohli’s record to become the fastest Indian to enter the 5K club.

But unlike the previous games, Rahul couldn’t score a big hit and got out for his second single-digit score this season.

Khaleel then joined the action, removing Mayank Agarwal before bringing down the late gates of Shahrukh Khan and Fabian Allen to help SRH play PBKS for 120 in 19.4 overs.

Abhishek played a crucial role in midfield by sending back the formidable Deepak Hooda (13) and Moises Henriques (14).
