Patients and relatives who cry for oxygen in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj should sit under reed trees to increase their oxygen saturation. The relatives running from one oxygen system to the next were stunned by the police’s bizarre solution.
While a patient’s relative was talking to Lallantop, he burst into tears when he said that people are being asked to stay in home care instead of huddled in hospitals, but they need oxygen at home too and no one is around to deliver oxygen.
Several patient relatives had gathered in front of the oxygen plant of Prayagraj BJP MLA Harshvardhan Vajpayee, which the UP government has now taken over. Authorities deployed here to maintain law and order have given the hospitals priority when it comes to oxygen supply.

“Everywhere we go they turn us away. The hospitals and oxygen systems have all boards put up outside the gates. There is no one to talk to. I asked them to let me in, to talk to someone, but the police chased us away, “said the young man in Prayagraj, looking for oxygen for his Covid-positive father who is gasping for breath.
He asked, “Where should we go? Nobody is there to answer our questions.”
“From Prayagraj to Lucknow, we’ve tried all of the hospitals, including Medanta and Apollo. Nobody took him in. Where are we going?” The unhappy man asked for help.
“SIT UNDER PIPAL TREES”
A relative of another Covid patient said there were no oxygen cylinders, oxygen cans, or concentrators available and when they asked authorities they were told to let the patient sit under a cane tree to increase oxygen saturation.
“A policeman told me to take your mother and put her under a cane tree,” another patient relative told Lallantop.
Another added that the police had told everyone this: Pipal ke neeche baitho, oxygen badh jayegi (sit under a pipal tree, your oxygen levels will increase) “.
OXYGEN PLANTS FOR UP
Up to 47 of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, will receive medical oxygen systems as part of the PM CARES fund to help overcome the lack of oxygen in Covid-19 patients, the government said last week.
