Apple had a lot going for it to share with its fans during the Spring Loaded event held last night. Aside from the exciting product launches, including a new iMac, iPad Pro, and more, the company focused heavily on the presentation aspect of the entire event. This is why we’ve seen Apple CEO Tim Cook perform stunts like Tom Cruise. It is for this reason that we have also made a concerted effort to ensure diversity and inclusion in Apple’s presentation. In particular, Apple’s technical program manager, Navpreet Kaloty, caught the attention of Indians after the event.
Kaloty takes care of the Mac architecture at Apple and presented the Camera features on the new iMac to the world.
If you watched the event you would say the dashing navpreet did it really well too. The Apple manager is now gaining worldwide recognition for his calm and balanced appearance of the camera during startup. But aside from what we see on the launch video, who exactly is Navpreet Kaloty and how did he come to be the first Sikh to perform at an Apple launch event? Here is a look.
Navpreet Kaloty: Know the man
As can be seen from its online presence, Navpreet works with Apple as the Engineering Program Manager at the Cupertino headquarters. The deduction can be made from the fact that he currently resides in the city of Cupertino, California. This could also have made him available for the Apple Spring Loaded presentation, which was fully taped in Apple Park.
This is the fifth year Navpreet has partnered with Apple on its current designation. Before joining Tech Major in May 2016, he completed a three-month internship with the product management team for operational excellence at Tesla.
Navpreet had completed similar internships before the Tesla appearance. In 2014 he worked a total of nine months at Suncor Energy in two different departments. Previously, he interned for five months at a company called 10in6 Incorporated in London, Ontario, Canada.
Regarding his education, Navpreet completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2016. He completed his Masters in Corporate Strategy from Harvard University in 2018 and is expected to complete the course next year according to his LinkedIn profile.
Navpreet appears to have long been an A-grade student, was a valedictorian, and was on the dean’s roll of honor for most of his studies. It seems that this in-depth knowledge of his area of expertise enabled him to reach one of the greatest stages in the tech world so early in his career.
Tim Cook as Tom Cruise
Even Apple CEO Tim Cook has left no stone unturned to make the presentation more engaging than a regular kick-off event. In a video marking Apple’s M1 chips’ entry into the iPad Pro range, the Apple Chief was seen performing a stunt like a Hollywood action hero.
When watching the video, the abbreviations TC seemed to stand for Tom Cruise and not Tim Cook, as he dangled from a roof, cut a hole in the glass, went through ventilation ducts and even avoided laser alarms in the video. All this to get the M1 chip from a Macbook and integrate it into the iPad Pro.
Of course, as CEO, he could have just walked in and taken it.
But where is the fun in it?
