At 103, the famous Gandhian and freedom fighter HS Doreswamy defeated Covid. He was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

“I developed symptoms five days ago, but there were no complications as such. However, I decided to be accepted because I have breathing problems. Now I’m being released, “the centenarian told PTI on Wednesday.

According to Doreswami, he was admitted to the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research (SJICSR), a state autonomous hospital.

According to sources close to him, the director of the Jayadeva Institute, Dr. CN Manjunath, a distinguished cardiologist and son-in-law of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, personally oversaw the treatment of Doreswamy.

Harohalli Srinivasaiah Doreswamy was born on April 10, 1918 and threw himself into the struggle for freedom by participating in the Quit India movement. From 1943 to 1944 he was imprisoned for 14 months.

The Gandhian had also participated in the Mysore Chalo movement to force the Mysore Maharaja to join the Indian state after independence.

As a Bachelor of Science degree from Central College in Bengaluru, he was a teacher and tried his hand at journalism by running a newspaper called Pauravani.
