In a severe Covid outbreak at Saroj Hospital in Delhi, 80 doctors tested Covid-positive while a senior surgeon at the facility died of the disease.

In a severe Covid outbreak at Saroj Hospital in Delhi, 80 doctors tested Covid-positive while a senior surgeon at the facility died of the disease.

Of the 80 doctors diagnosed with Covid-19, 12 have been hospitalized for treatment while the rest are in quarantine.

Dr. AK Rawat, a senior surgeon at the hospital, has succumbed to Covid-19.

With the Covid outbreak in Saroj Hospital, all outpatient departments (OPDs) were closed for the time being.

On Sunday a young doctor at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi that succumbed to complications related to Covid-19 within hours of the positive infection test.

Dr. Anas Mujahid, 26, worked at the GTB Hospital, which was being converted into a designated Covid-19 hospital. He completed his internship at MBBS in January.

On Sunday, Delhi reported 273 coronavirus deaths and 13,336 new Covid-19 infections. The number of new cases, the lowest since April 12, is due to a lower number of tests – 61,552 – conducted on Saturday.
