AAP admits to putting posters asking PM Modi about vaccine shortage, claims workers harassed by Delhi Police

The AAP on Sunday had set itself the task of putting up posters in many parts of the city criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the lack of Covid-19 vaccines. Several workers were arrested and hundreds “harassed” by police in Delhi.

AAP senior leader Durgesh Pathak said the police action would not deter the party and put up similar campaign-mode posters across the city and across the country.

“The AAP is behind these posters. I stand behind the posters. Arrest me and our MLAs, but don’t harass poor people who paste posters for a meager payment,” Pathak said at a press conference.

In a tweet, AAP Supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said it was not time to point fingers at each other and appealed to AAP volunteers to serve the people devastated by Covid-19.

“Corona has wreaked havoc. People are very desperate. This is not the time to point fingers at each other, but to support others. It is my appeal to all AAP volunteers to help the people in their neighborhood by whatever means possible . It’s Dharma and true patriotism this time, “Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

The Delhi police registered 25 FIRs and arrested as many people for allegedly pasting and reading the posters. “Modiji humare bachhon ki vaccine videsh kyun bhej diya (PM, why did you send vaccines overseas for our children?) “In several parts of the city amid coronavirus lockdown.

The FIRs have been registered in various districts of the Delhi Police Department under Section 188 (Disobedience to an Order Duly Made by an Official) of the Indian Criminal Code and other relevant sections, including Section 3 of the Prevention of Property Defacing Act, officials said .

Pathak said people across the country were asking the same question about why the prime minister and the BJP government exported millions of doses of vaccine to 94 countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq, which could have contributed to thousands of lives in India rescue.

“People are dying across the country from Covid and there is no place in crematoria and bodies floating in the rivers. These lives could have been saved if vaccines had not been exported,” he claimed.

There is a severe vaccine shortage in the country and people spend hours searching for vaccination slots on their computers. The youth and the elderly are running from the column to the post office for vaccines, but it is not available, he continued.

“The Delhi Police under the central government register FIRs and arrest people when they wonder why the Prime Minister and the BJP government have given vaccines to them and their children in other countries,” he said.

Several AAP workers from Mongolpuri, Ghonda, Karawal Nagar, Rithala and other parts of the city were arrested. In addition, nearly 500 volunteers are “harassed” by sitting for hours at various police stations, he accused.

Delhi is facing a vaccine shortageDeputy Prime Minister Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders accused the BJP-ruled center of exporting the “image management” cans abroad.

“Who sold vaccines for our children for event management in other countries?” Sisodia tweeted on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Prime Minister said his government had written to the central government and two manufacturers but there was still no evidence of vaccine supply.
