Assam police have announced a “handsome reward” for anyone who provides information about five unidentified people accused of sexually assaulting a girl in a video that went viral on social media.
The girl is said to be from the northeast. However, the police say it is possible that she was not from Assam.
Assam police also released photos of the five defendants, including a woman.
Police said the location and time of the sexual assault were not yet known and efforts were being made to gather more details.

In another tweet, police said: “Although it is not clear where this incident took place and may not have originated in Assam, we are trying to proactively find the culprits.”

Meanwhile, Union Sports Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh Kiren Rijiju said the viral video of a northeast girl “brutally raped and tortured” by four men and one woman is unrelated to Rajasthan.

In the viral video, five unidentified people, including a woman, were seen beating, kicking, and sexually assaulting the victim while she called for help.
