At 3,874, India’s daily Covid death toll dips; 2.76 lakh new cases reported in last 24 hrs


According to the Union Ministry of Health, India has reported 3,874 deaths and 2,776,110 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The country saw a slight decrease in daily deaths to 3,874 on Thursday compared to Wednesday, which saw the highest daily death toll at 4,529.

Though daily infections increased slightly from 2,67,334 cases on Wednesday, daily recoveries surpassed the number of cases at 3,69,077.

The total death toll stands at 2,87,122 and the country has 31,29,878 active cases. So far, a total of 2,23,55,440 discharges have been made.

TOP DEVELOPMENTS

1. The top five states that recorded maximum cases are Tamil Nadu with 34,875 cases, followed by Karnataka with 34,281 cases, Maharashtra with 34,031 cases, Kerala with 32,762 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 23,160 cases.

2. Around 57.64 percent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Tamil Nadu alone responsible for 12.63 percent of the new cases.

3. Maharashtra reported maximum casualties with 594 deaths, followed by Karnataka with 468 daily deaths.
