Can’t be an ego issue: Delhi govt attacks Centre over oxygen crisis, HC says enough is enough


The Delhi government slammed the center during a hearing in the Delhi Supreme Court on Saturday, saying the oxygen crisis in the capital could “no longer be an ego problem”.

Delhi government lawyer Rahul Mehra said during the hearing that he was on the verge of collapse and all officials in Delhi are on the verge of collapse. “I’m going to have a breakdown now. Our officers are about to breakdown. We need oxygen. What are we going to do?” Asked Mehra.

The Supreme Court later ordered the center to ensure that Delhi received 490 tons of oxygen in any case on Saturday. “In the event of non-compliance, we can even consider initiating a denial process.”

The HC said to Center: “Now the water has risen over our heads. Now we’re serious. Enough is enough.”

During the hearing, the Delhi government lawyer told the court: “We have exhausted our arguments. We do not know what to say. This can no longer be an ego problem.”

The Delhi government struck the center saying, “I apologize if this becomes controversial. All we have seen for 10 days is the center’s ego.”

The Supreme Court added, “Let’s see what the center says on Monday. Hospitals that are being oxygenated by Linde Air say the supplier is not responding. Hospitals are in dire need.”

The Delhi government told the center, “If you can’t give us oxygen, just tell us and that’s it.” However, the center responded by saying, “Do not make such statements.”

The PSRI Hospital attorney said, “Your supplier has changed. Now you have no more refills. You have 2.5 hours of oxygen left. We’re running out.”

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal made another appeal to the Center for Oxygen. He said, “With folded hands, I urge decision-makers to oxygenate Delhi.”

“There is a big problem with oxygen. SOS comes from all hospitals. We spoke to courts and wrote to the center that Delhi needs 976 tons of oxygen a day, but we were only given 490 tons of oxygen. Yesterday we received only 312 tons. How will that work? ”Kejriwal asked on Saturday as several hospitals continued to send SOS messages for an urgent oxygen supply.

The High Court says hospitals should learn from the crisis

The Delhi Supreme Court said on Saturday that hospitals should learn from their experience of oxygen starvation during the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic and set up facilities to generate the life-saving gas.

Judges Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli’s bench, for commercial reasons, said some hospitals are reducing investment in things like oxygen plants that are essential in a hospital, especially the large ones.

“Oxygen plants are essential. It is irresponsible not to have them,” the bank said.
