The congress management beat up the center on Monday for its vaccination policy. Chairman of the Congress, KC Venugopal, expressed deep concern that the vaccination policy of the Narendra Modi-led central government was flawed as many people who had no internet access would be excluded from the vaccination campaign.

Speaking at a press conference following the Congressional Working Committee meeting in New Delhi, Venugopal said the committee passed two resolutions during the meeting – one on the centre’s vaccine policy and a second to postpone the party chairman elections until the situation in Covid is clarified.

The CWC resolution also slammed the center because of ongoing work on the Central Vista project in New Delhi.

Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala emphasized that registration for the Covid vaccination campaign requires registration on the Cowin platform via the Aarogya Setu app and that the policy is discriminatory.

“Covid’s vaccination policy is discriminatory. Poor people are excluded because they have no access to the Internet,” said Surjewala.

The party spokesman also criticized the center for allegedly inappropriately distributing Covid’s essential resources such as oxygen and medicines across the country.

“NO TIME TO MAKE VOTES”

The CWÜ decided again to postpone the election of party chairman. On hold for almost two years, the internal elections were postponed for the third time on Monday. KC Venugopal explained the reason, saying that the CWC members felt that due to the prevailing situation in Covid-19 this was no time to hold elections.

“The CWC was considering the electoral plan proposed by the party’s central electoral authority for the election of the AICC president. Given the conditions prevailing nationwide due to the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, the CWC agreed that all of our energies should be channeled to save every life and to help everyone affected by Covid. The CWC therefore decided unanimously to postpone the elections temporarily in these challenging times, “reads the CWC resolution read by KC Venugopal.

According to sources, the CWC was considering holding the June 23 election. In the end, however, the committee decided to postpone the elections again.
