A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell landed at the Twitter India office in the Lado Sarai area of the state capital on Monday. At the same time, a second team arrived at the social media giant’s office in Gurugram.

While the team at Lado Sarai’s office has been rejected, the second team is believed to be still in Twitter India’s office in Gurugram, Haryana.

Earlier on Monday, Delhi Police Special Cell has notified Twitter in connection with the ‘Manipulated Media’ controversy. The social media giant has been asked to provide an answer on this.

Twitter had marked a document shared by BJP spokesman Sambit Patra on May 21 as “manipulated media”. The document, Patra said, is evidence of the Congress party’s strategy of “defaming” Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In its notice, the Delhi Police Special Cell asked Twitter India to share any information it may have on the website Documents shared by Sambit Patra. The announcement was addressed to Manish Maheshwari, Managing Director (MD) of Twitter India.

Delhi Police Special Cell is conducting preliminary investigation into “Toolkit Allegedly Released by India’s National Congress,” read the press release.

The message to Twitter India went on to say, “We are aware that you are familiar with the facts of the matter and have information about it.”

These raids by the Delhi Police Special Cell also took place less than 24 hours before the deadline by which social media companies were supposed to adhere to the Rules for Brokerage Information Technology Brokerage Guidelines 2021.
