Congress chairman Rahul Gandhi claimed Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure and the center’s zero strategy are pushing the country to a complete lockdown.

Gandhi said he was against a total lockdown and urged the government to provide a financial package for the poor.

“Last year’s unplanned lockdown was a deadly attack on people, so I’m against a full lockdown.

In another tweet, Gandhi hit the government over the rise in gasoline and diesel prices, saying the elections were over and the loot had started again.

The Congress leader called for a financial package for the poor and called on the government to transfer Rs 6,000 to their accounts to help tackle the current crisis.

Gandhi had said on Wednesday that imposing a full lockdown was the only solution in the current situation.

India has had a record 4.12 lakh cases and around 4,000 deaths in the past 24 hours, and most states have put restrictions or lockdowns in place.
