The Goa government has decided to impose a 15-day curfew in the state to curb the spread of coronavirus infections. The curfew begins on Sunday (May 9th).
During the curfew, stores dealing with essential services will remain open from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Home delivery of groceries is permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The announcement comes a day after Goa’s chief minister Pramod Sawant hinted that the government is considering a lockdown to curb the surge in Covid-19 cases.

He had said a final decision on this would be made in the next three to four days.
After a virtual meeting with MLAs, the prime minister spoke to reporters and said the state government had been “positive” about the lockdown.
We’ll talk to everyone involved before we make the decision, he said.
Goa is currently under strict Covid-19 curbsincluding the closure of non-essential businesses. The state was locked for four days last week.
On Thursday, Goa reported 3,869 Covid-19 cases, with the number of infections rising to 1,08,267, the highest daily number to date. The coronavirus number rose to 1,501 after 58 patients died from the infection on Thursday.
