Private workplaces that organize Covid-19 vaccination campaigns for their employees can extend the vaccination campaign to family members of their employees, the Union Ministry of Health has made clear.

In a letter to states / UTs, the ministry announced that family members and relatives of employees can also be provided with Covid-19 vaccinations in the Covid vaccination centers in the workplace.

For these vaccinations, the ministry said private workplaces would have to procure vaccine doses from the private hospitals that the employer has tied with for the vaccination.

“For CVCs in the government workplace, beneficiaries aged 45 and over can be covered by the free vaccine doses that the Government of India is making available to states / UTs. Beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group can be covered by the vaccine doses that were sourced directly from the state / UT government from vaccine manufacturers, “the ministry said in its letter.

On April 6th, the center had issued guidelines for Covid-19 vaccinations in public and private workplaces. The guidelines enabled workplaces to organize Covid vaccination centers for their employees.

On April 21, the government announced the “liberalized pricing and accelerated national Covid-19 vaccination strategy”.

As part of this, states, private hospitals and industrial companies were allowed to purchase vaccine doses directly from the manufacturers through their hospitals.
