As cyclone Tauktae continues to weaken, its aftermath will cause moderate rainfall in several parts of northern India, including Delhi-NCR, over the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Tuesday.
Kuldeep Srivastava, head of IMD’s regional meteorological center, said cyclone Tauktae brought rain to southern Rajasthan as it approached northern India.
“Tomorrow it will stretch from Rajasthan to Haryana. Because of this, there will be moderate rain in the Delhi-NCR region in east and west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan. There is a possibility of heavy rains in some parts of Delhi,” so Kuldeep Srivastava said.
The IMD issued an orange warning for the National Capital Region (NCR) for Wednesday with a forecast of rain and violent winds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.
The weakened cyclone cycle will also move to Uttarakhand and bring rain to the state along with Himachal Pradesh for the next two days, he added.
A western disruption also affects parts of northern India, and the two weather systems are expected to bring rain.
Cyclone Tauktae hit Gujarat coast on Monday evening as an “extremely severe cyclone storm” bringing heavy rains to Gujarat. The cyclone had previously hit the entire west coast.
