While India is grappling with a harrowing Covid-19 crisis, the Lancet has praised Odisha for its readiness and production and export of medical oxygen to multiple states.
In its May 8 editorial entitled India’s Covid-19 Emergency, the international medical journal said that during the second wave of Covid-19, Odisha was better prepared and able to produce enough medical oxygen to be exported to other countries become.
While the Lancet praised Kerala, it also raised some critical questions that the center should have discussed.
“Others, like Kerala and Odisha, were better prepared and were able to produce enough medical oxygen in this second wave to export to other states,” the article said.
In the past 17 days, Odisha has dispatched 473 tankers carrying approximately 8,689.6 tons of liquid medical oxygen from JSPL in Angul to 11 deoxygenated states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and others.
