India registers 3,11,170 new Covid-19 cases, 4,077 deaths in 24 hours


India has registered 3,11,170 new cases in the past 24 hours. The top five states that recorded maximum cases are Karnataka with 41,664 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 34,848 cases, Tamil Nadu with 33,658 cases, Kerala with 32,680 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 22,517 cases.

53.15% of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Karnataka alone responsible for 13.39% of the new cases.

4,077 deaths have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours. Maharashtra reported maximum casualties with 960 deaths, followed by Karnataka with 349 daily deaths.

There is a clear sign that the second wave will peak when the number of falls falls closer to 3 lakh.

The death toll remains worrying as it is still above 4,000. Maharashtra alone has reported more than 900 deaths.

However, there has been a significant decrease in active cases of more than 50,000 in the past 24 hours. The tests have increased slightly compared to Friday.

On the other hand, 17 districts in Karnataka are now seeing a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus infections.

These districts are Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Uttara Kannada, Hassan, Ballari, Mysuru, Tumakuru, Kolar, Kodagu, Udupi, Shivammogga, Dharwad, Dakshina Kannada, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Mandya and Chikkaballapur.

Union Ministry of Health Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said at a press conference Saturday that Tamil Nadu was showing trends with an increase in the number of active cases over the past week.
