India sent Mehul Choksi deportation documents to Dominica: Antiguan PM

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne said Sunday that India had sent Mehul Choksis documents related to his deportation to India. Mehul Choksi is wanted in a crore bank loan fraud case for Rs 13,500 in India. Choksi, who has lived in Antigua since 2018, was caught in Dominica on May 26th.

According to sources, Indian authorities are looking for ways to deport Mehul Choksi to India after he was arrested by Dominican police for illegally entering their country.

The Dominica Supreme Court has suspended the removal of Mehul Choksi from his soil and ordered the developments pending a hearing in an open court on June 2nd.

Mehul Choksi has since said that He was kidnapped from Jolly Harbor in Antigua and Barbuda by police officers who look like Antiguans and Indians who are brought to Dominica. Mehul Choksi also appealed against his imprisonment to the Dominican HC through his Dominican lawyer.

Mehul Choksi alleged that he was kidnapped, beaten and forcibly taken to Dominica.
