India will start production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V against Covid-19 in August, producing 850 million doses. The Indian envoy to Russia has said that 65-70% of all Sputnik V vaccines in the world come from India.

The Indian envoy to Russia, Ambassador DB Venkatesh Varma, announced at a press conference in Russia that India would sell 850 million cans of the Satellite V vaccine.

The envoy interacted with journalists in St. Petersburg on Saturday about the vaccine against Sputnik V, S-400 missiles and the current situation in Covid in India.

The envoy said that Russia already has delivered 1.50,000 cans plus 60,000 cans to India. Another 3 million cans will be delivered in bulk by the end of May.

“These would be occupied in India. It’s called fill and quit. In June that number is expected to rise to 5 million. Production in India will start in August, ”said Varma.

There are currently plans to manufacture 850 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine in India. About 65-70% of the total number of Sputnik V vaccine doses produced all over the world will be from India, he said.

The envoy went on to explain: “Sputnik is manufactured in India in three phases. First, the delivery from Russia – completely made – which has already started. Second, RDIF will send to India in bulk. It will be ready to use but needs to be bottled in different bottles in India. “
