India Today Impact: Bathrooms opened, doctors back, garbage removed from Covid ward of UP hospital


After India Today reported the plumbing crisis and shortage of doctors at the largest government hospital in Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh, the hospital’s bathrooms have finally opened and doctors are back on duty.

After this India Today revealed the desperate condition of the patients and their companions In the 100-bed Covid department of the BR Ambedkar Hospital in the Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh, authorities have taken remedial action.

Bathroom open

Two days ago, India Today reported that the bathrooms in the largest government hospital in Etawah district were locked because the plumbing workers were unwilling to work on the Covid ward. As a result, Covid patients and their family members had no choice but to openly deflate.

The bathrooms were finally opened on every floor of the hospital to avert a potentially major plumbing crisis.

In addition, the garbage that was strewn around the hospital’s Covid ward has now been cleared.

Doctors on duty

No doctors, nurses, or hospital administrators could be found in the two hours the India Today team spent in the hospital a few days ago.

The families of the Covid patients also said it was difficult to find doctors and hospital staff as they rarely made rounds.

It is now reported that the doctors are back on duty.

On May 12, India Today contacted county authorities about the issues identified in the hospital’s Covid section. Uttar Pradesh police took note of the problem, albeit a few hours later, and promised action. The patients were finally granted some relief.
