Maharashtra records 821 Covid deaths, over 62,000 new cases


Maharashtra has reported 62,919 new coronavirus cases and 828 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Maharashtra reported 62,919 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Friday, bringing the number of active cases to 6,62,640. The state reported 828 coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours.

The number of cases on Friday reached 46,02,472 while the death toll rose to 68,813, PTI news agency reported.

The state’s patient mortality rate (CFR) is now 1.5 percent, according to the latest figures. At the same time, the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Maharashtra has increased to 84.06 percent.

Up to 69,710 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, bringing the number of recoveries in the state to 38,68,976.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said that on Saturday The state government will start the phase 3 vaccination campaign on May 1st for adults aged 18 to 45, although there is a very limited inventory of vaccines. The state government had previously announced that it would vaccinate people of this age group free of charge.

The Prime Minister added that the Decision to impose lockdown-like restrictions in Maharashtra has helped break the chain of Covid-19 transmission and cases are now stabilizing.
