Mehul Choksi went on romantic trip with girlfriend to Dominica, got caught: Antigua PM

Gaston Browne, the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, has made sensational claims about the mysterious disappearance of Mehul Choksi from the Caribbean nation. The fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi was arrested and arrested by Dominican police on May 26th.

During an interview, Gaston Browne said, “Mehul Choksi made a mistake and the information we are receiving is that Choksi was traveling with his girlfriend, but he was trapped in Dominica and now he can be deported back to India.”

Choksi, the alleged one Mastermind of Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud of 13,000 rupees However, Case has alleged through his lawyers that he was kidnapped on May 23 of this year. He claims that people with “ties to India”, in collaboration with Antiguan officials, abducted him.

He was then beaten, tortured and taken to Dominica in a ship where he was arrested, Mehul Choksi’s lawyers claim.

The The Antigua and Barbuda Police Chief has denied all such allegations leveled by Mehul Choksi and his legal representatives.

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced that Indian officials have landed in Dominica to secure custody of Mehul Choksi. Documents are presented to the Dominican authorities to convince them that Choksi is a refugee and should be deported straight to India.

Gaston Browne has also advised the Dominican government that Choksi should be sent to India and not returned to Antigua.

The matter of the alleged kidnapping, torture and illegal arrest of Mehul Choksi is pending in the Dominican Republic’s Supreme Court. The court has restricted Mehul Choksi’s repatriation to another country until the next hearing on June 2nd.
