Congress President Sonia Gandhi has recognized the need to investigate the party’s repeated setbacks in parliamentary elections and that “the house needs to be put in order”.

The General Secretaries of Congress, Jitender Singh for Assam, Tariq Anwar for Kerala, Dinesh Gundurao for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, and Jitin Prasada for West Bengal were to present the party’s performance in the general election.

Speaking at the Congressional Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Monday, Sonia Gandhi said, “We want you to tell us why we are well below expectations. These results clearly show us that we need to put our house in order. “

At the crucial meeting, Sonia Gandhi also said that she intends to create a small group to investigate all aspects that caused the electoral debacle for Congress in the recent elections.

“We have to take note of our serious setbacks. To say that we are deeply disappointed is an understatement, “said Sonia Gandhi on the party’s bad show.

“I intend to start a small group to look into all the issues that have caused such setbacks and report back very quickly. We have to understand openly why we did not manage to oust the ruling governments in Kerala and Assam and why we closed a complete void in West Bengal, ”said Sonia Gandhi on the recent election results of the assembly.

The Congress won zero seats in West Bengal in his alliance with the Left Front and the ISF and was unable to regain power in Kerala and Assam, and he also lost Puducherry. Congress came to power in Tamil Nadu only with the help of its ally DMK.

Sonia Gandhi added, “These are going to be uncomfortable lessons, but if we don’t face reality, if we don’t face the facts, we will not learn the right lessons.”

Sonia Gandhi also said the schedule for the election of the new Congress President will also be discussed at the meeting. She has also quarreled with the Modi government over how to deal with the pandemic situation.
