Days after Uttar Pradesh began vaccinating people between the ages of 18 and 44, authorities ordered that beneficiaries must provide local proof of address in order to receive the sting.
While earlier vaccines for the age group 18+ were opened in 7 districts of the UP, it has now started the campaign in 11 districts.
All Uttar Pradesh government websites where vaccination dates can be booked only show slots for UP residents. Proof of address such as aadhaar, passport, driver’s license, grocery card and voter’s ID, etc. are required for vaccination.

However, the center did not hire a local residence to get the sting in any state. Anyone from any state can register for vaccination on the CoWin portal and, depending on their location, book a spot for the vaccine.
28-year-old Sumit Rajvanshi from Noida is from Madhya Pradesh but has no local ID. He has not yet been able to get the vaccine and has to wait to return to his hometown. “Many other professionals working in NCR are now facing the same problems,” he said.
A letter from the Director of the National Health Mission, Aparna Upadhyay, said that the districts that have been vaccinated since May 1 have informed the UP government that large numbers of people from other states are applying for the vaccination have registered .
Because of this, UP staff could not get the vaccines. In the two districts of Noida and Ghaziabad, the authorities target an average of 5,000 to 6,000 vaccine recipients every day.

According to the order of the NHM director, it was said that the Uttar Pradesh government bought vaccines for the population of the state and the state government invested its own money by ordering the vaccine.
Therefore, only the people of Uttar Pradesh are vaccinated with these doses. People were told that only UP residents are allowed to go to Covid state vaccination centers.
While the move might bring some relief to UP residents, those living in Noida and Ghaziabad might have problems not being local. Most of the workforce living in the twin cities are migrants from other states and do not have local addresses, which has become a major concern for them.
