The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) said Thursday that those who have recovered from Covid-19 should wait six months before being vaccinated.
The governing body said those who have SARS-CoV-2 disease detected in laboratory tests should postpone Covid-19 vaccination for six months after recovery.
People who received the first dose and tested positive for Covid-19 before completing the dosing schedule should wait 4 to 8 weeks after clinical recovery from the disease.
Covid-19 patients who have been given anti-SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma can postpone the Covid-19 vaccination for three months from the day they are discharged from hospital, the recommendations say.

PREGNANT WOMEN CAN CHOOSE VACCINE
The panel also suggested that pregnant women could be offered the choice of taking a Covid-19 vaccine and that breastfeeding women could be vaccinated anytime after giving birth.
The NTAGI recommended that all pregnant women coming for ANC treatment should be made aware of the risks and benefits associated with Covishield and Covaxin. Based on the information provided, a pregnant woman may be offered the choice of taking one of the Covid 19 vaccines.
An educational tool can be developed that includes information about the risk of Covid 19 infection during pregnancy, the benefits of vaccination, and rare complications associated with vaccines such as thrombosis and thrombocytopenia (with Covishield).
Also, all breastfeeding women can get the Covid 19 vaccines anytime after giving birth, the panel suggested.
According to the current vaccination protocol, pregnant and breastfeeding women should not be given the shots as they have not previously participated in a clinical trial against coronavirus vaccines.
