PM Modi chairs high-level meeting on Covid-19 situation


Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka remain the states with the highest coronavirus cases in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting today on the Covid-related situation and vaccination status in the country.

India recorded 3,26,098 new Covid-19 cases and 3,980 deaths in the past 24 hours. There has been a 31,000 decrease in active Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan will hold a video conference with Ministers of Health of Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat on Saturday at 3 p.m. to review the situation in Covid-19 as well as the progress of the vaccination campaign in their respective states.

India’s cumulative vaccination rate exceeded 18 crore in phase 3 of the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign. A total of 18,04,57,579 vaccine doses were administered by 7 a.m. on Saturday in 26,02,435 sessions, according to the preliminary report.

So far, more than 42 lakh beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group have received the first batch of the Covid-19 vaccine.
