The popular Tamil Nadu number R Porcheziyan, who runs the Saapattu Raman YouTube channel, has been detained by officials at the Ministry of Health for allegedly treating people with no professional training or medical qualifications.

The 60-year-old YouTuber is said to own a clinic in the village of Koogayur near Chinnasalem. The defendant was taken into custody on a complaint alleging he was treating patients with symptoms of Covid-19 and other diseases.

Health Department officials confiscated used syringes, medicines, tablets and injections from the clinic’s premises.

The investigation also found that the popular youTuber only had a Bachelor of Electro-Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery (BEMS). The Ministry of Health officials who sealed the clinic filed a quackery complaint against Porcheziyan with the Keelkuppam Police Department.
