Note the Protests at the gates of Raj Bhawan In Calcutta, including one where a man was herding a flock of sheep on Tuesday, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar shot down a letter to the city police chief asking for an explanation by 5 p.m.

“The state of law and order even at the main entrance gate of Raj Bhawan is worrying as the attitude of the police leaves much to be desired, and all of this when the area is under prohibited orders,” tweeted Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, tagging Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee and Kolkata Police.

TMC activists held demonstrations across the state on Monday Protest against the arrest of ministers Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee and TMC MLA Madan Mitra from the CBI in connection with his probe in the Narada spiked belt case.

However, what appears to have sparked the governor’s troubles is a protest by an organization, Kolkata Nagarik Mancha, which brought a flock of sheep near the north gate of Raj Bhawan on Tuesday. By the way, Tuesday was Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar’s birthday.

“I have noticed that the security of the Raj Bhawan premises near the north gate has been violated with impunity by certain recalcitrant elements in front of a huge group of Kolkata police officers. The so-called demonstration of these lumpy elements continued unabated with the presence of a huge police contingent for more than two hours, “said Dhankhar.

“Another incident occurred near the same spot … where a male along with a group of half a dozen sheep blocked the north gate of Raj Bhawan and posed for photos and videos in front of a large contingent of media people during a large contingent of policemen stood watching this drama. No effort was made to dissuade this male person from blocking access to Raj Bhavan or for his personal control to keep the premises safe, “Dhankhar said.

Kolkata Nagarik Mancha claimed it had no affiliation with any political party and was protesting the worsening Covid-19 situation in Bengal, PTI reported.

Dhankar imposed sanctions on the three TMC heavyweight leaders and former Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee on May 7th. The CBI then finalized its indictment and arrested her.
