River of sorrow: The mystery of bodies floating in Ganga | India Today Ground Report

India Today television reporter took a boat and traveled from Ghazipur to Buxar to find out if it is the people who live by the river and dump the bodies of loved ones or swim downstream. After all, the inevitable question that comes to mind is who these people are. Why were they dumped?

As the cameras rolled, three bodies were pulled out of the river by the administration. The people who took out the bodies did not wear PPE kits or protective clothing.

WHAT LOCAL REQUEST

A local who stood on the bank with other villagers to see what the authorities were doing said, “If you look closely, the river just outside the bank changes direction and all corpses flow in that direction.”

Another local said that it is not true that these bodies belong to people from the villages here. “These bodies are floating from other places. The people in the villages are being misled. This is not sending the right message.”

WHAT BJP MLA SAYS

While BJP MLA Sunita Singh was wearing a mask under her nose, she said, “The bodies washed ashore are a natural phenomenon.”

When asked where the bodies came from, she said, “It is not important. We need to know that people are disposing of bodies from Prayagraj, which is why they float down the drain. The bodies follow in the direction of the wind.”

GHAZIPUR DM RUNS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Our patrol teams are constantly running trips to alert people. We reach out to villages and people to make sure no one has a problem. This campaign is being carried out to make sure that people no longer have problems. We realize that the villagers are already in trouble and don’t want any more new problems to haunt them.

INDIA TAKES WATER ROUTE TO BUXAR TODAY

India Today TV rented a boat from Ghazipur to travel all the way to Naubatpur.

On the way, the situation on the banks seemed just the trailer. The real mess was discovered along the way. Over a dozen bodies were floating on the river. Almost every curve had a body stuck to the rock or a body that floated.

Worse, when the boat went from one side of the river to the other, the situation was more dire. Crows and dogs nibbled at the remains of the bodies. Within hours of the trip, the number of bodies on the river was innumerable.

Locals claimed that people from the remote villages tossed the bodies directly into the river taking advantage of the night. The river flows through Haridwar and comes via Bihar. “Because of the current, the bodies are piling up on the bank. The number of bodies has increased significantly in the last 15 days. The bodies are flowing in from the Ghazipur district.”

COPS PATROL THE RIVER

Policemen were seen patrolling boats and using microphones telling people not to dump the bodies in the river. They also said that if the villagers don’t have a supply of wood, they can take it from the administration. “The administration is here to help. They will help you with your family member’s final rights. Please don’t throw
