  • Sushil Kumar, who was murdered by Sagar Rana, had contact with the feared gangsters Kala Jhathedi and Neeraj Bawana

Delhi police are considering using the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against wrestler Sushil Kumar for his involvement in feared gangsters from Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan, a senior police officer said on Sunday.

This measure is taken against those who are involved in organized crime. The defendant will not be able to get bail easily and there is also life imprisonment under MCOCA. Investigative authorities can submit a fee sheet to MCOCA for up to 6 months.

The two-time Olympic champion Sushil Kumar had contact with the gangsters Kala Jhathedi and Neeraj Bawana. It is believed that Sushil Kala Jhathedi and Neeraj Bawana provided information about the status and functioning of people. According to the police, Sushil and the gangsters have been united since 2018. Sushil also beat Kala Jhathedi’s nephew during the murder of Sagar Rana. This created a rift in the relationship between Kala Jhathedi and the two-time Olympic champion.

According to police, Sushil Kumar’s role was similar to that of former MLA Ramvir Shaukeen, who worked behind the scenes for his gangster nephew Neeraj Bawana. Ramveer Shaukeen is also in jail. Gangster Sandeep Kala, also known as Kala Jhathedi, and gangster Laurence Vishnoi team up. Special Cell of Delhi police arrested 5 people – Laurence Vishnoi, Jagdeep Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sampat Mehra aka Kali Rajput, Raju Basodi and Ravindra aka Kali Shooter in the MCOCA case. Laurence Vishnoi was brought to Delhi from the maximum security prison in Ajmer, Rajasthan, on remand.

The special cell had also registered a case by MCOCA against Kala Jathedi. According to a special cell official, Laurence Vishnoi and Kala Jathedi’s network is widespread in many countries. There are more than 300 crooks in this gang. Delhi police sources say they are investigating links between decorated wrestler Sushil Kumar and infamous gangster Neeraj Bawana, who allegedly runs his empire from Tihar Prison. Bawana’s henchmen are said to have accompanied the Olympian when the attack on Sagar took place on May 4th. A scorpion registered with a person who lives in the same village as Bawana’s maternal uncle also has disheveled feathers. A semi-automatic shotgun with 12 holes and some cartridges were found in the Scorpion.

Another person attacked on that fateful day with Sagar was Sonu Mahal, who happens to be the nephew of wanted gangster Sandeep Kala aka Kala Jathedi, who is now believed to be hiding in Dubai. Bawana and Jathedi are involved in Delhi’s underworld.

However, it has long been known that wrestlers have been linked to the dark underbelly of Delhi’s crime world. Wrestlers’ “services” are often used by politicians and loan sharks. According to police sources, there have been several incidents where wrestlers intimidated indebted individuals and forced them to sign real estate when they were unable to pay off.
