Subodh Jaiswal takes charge as CBI chief, briefed by senior officers


Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, an IPS officer in the 1985 Maharashtra cadre, took over the helm of the Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday after handing over responsibility to the director general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Jaiswal was met by the CBI executives upon arrival at the agency’s headquarters in Delhi.

“After Jaiswal took command, senior officials from the CBI briefed him,” said one officer.

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal holds a Bachelor’s degree in English (Honors), Economics and Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).

Jaiswal served in various positions in his cadre, including SP (Gadchiroli, Aurangabad and Osmanabad), DIG, Special Investigation Team in Charge (SIT), Additional CP, Counter-Terrorism Squad, Additional CP, Central Area, Mumbai, IG of Amravati Range and as Mumbai Police Commissioner.

Starting in February 2019, he was DGP in Maharashtra for almost two years before moving to the post of DG CISF.

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal worked as AIG & DIG in close protection teams of the Indian Prime Minister during his six-year tenure at the Special Protection Group. From June 2008 to 2018 he worked for 10 years in various functions in the Cabinet Secretariat (Government of India).

Jaiswal has extensive experience in various areas such as counter-terrorism (left-wing extremism), dealing with VVIP security, etc.

Jaiswal is also the recipient of the President Police Medal for Excellence in 2009, the Indian Police Medal for Merit in 2001, the Medal for Homeland Security (Government of India), the Medal for Special Services (Government of Maharashtra) and the Asadharan Suraksha Seva Praman Patra (ASSPP).
