UP’s private path labs back to work after halt in Covid testing on administration’s ‘unofficial’ orders


Weeks after the alleged restriction by the administration, private diagnostic laboratories in Uttar Pradesh have started again to run Covid-19 tests at full capacity and without restrictions.

Unofficial orders from the administration

Some laboratories continued to send their laboratory technicians home unofficially to collect samples, despite the administration’s “unofficial” order.

A sample collector at a famous private diagnostic laboratory told India Today on condition of anonymity: “We were not allowed to collect samples. Despite numerous calls from citizens, we were asked not to do many tests.”

“During this time, the government was overloaded with a large number of samples. We were told that due to over-testing by private pathologies, they were unable to provide test results on time,” he added.

Government hides real case list?

Another lab technician, on condition of anonymity, told India Today that all of this was done to hide the top of Covid cases in the state.

“No other logic makes sense – that was the only reason. We did a lot of tests on our personal capacity even though the administration gave us a red signal,” he said.
