Bodies that were buried in the sand along the banks of the Ganga have now been found swimming in the river. This is because the water level of the river in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh has risen 40-45 cm in the past two days and the sand is submerged and eroded.

As a result, large numbers of remains have been seen floating in the river at Buxar Ghat in Unnao in the past few days.

Earlier this month, hundreds of bodies were found buried in shallow sand graves along the river bank due to a lack of space at Buxar Crematorium Ghat in Bighapur. Some of these bodies could be victims of Covid.

India Today’s team reached Buxar Ghat and talked to the locals there. Ravikant Patel, 34, said he saw bodies floating in the river. According to him, three or four bodies can be seen in from across the river every hour.

Another local resident, Sushil Kumar, said no one from the local administration came to review the situation or clean up the ghat. “This is due to the negligence of the administration. The situation will only worsen as the water level is likely to continue to rise in the coming days when the monsoons begin, ”he said.

According to 55-year-old Ram Avatar, bodies are buried in the sand on the banks of the river every year. This time, however, the Number of bodies is much larger and that is why this situation arose. On Saturday, he saw several bodies floating in the river as the sand began to erode.
