The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has called a high-level virtual meeting after the drone attack in Jammu. According to official figures, the meeting started at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

A drone is said to have dropped two explosives at the Indian Air Force (IAF) technical airport in Jammu. The IAF installation and Jammu civil airport are linked as they share a common runway.

More details are awaited as this is a developing story.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of cabinet ministers to discuss the security implications of drones. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri attended the meeting.

The investigation into the drone attack in Jammu has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Initial findings indicate the role of the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba in carrying out the attack.

In addition, since the attack on the IAF base in the early hours of Sunday morning, drones have been sighted over security facilities in Jammu twice. In one case, security personnel spotted two drones flying over the Jammu Cantonment area but were unable to shoot them down.
