Andhra Pradesh govt extends Covid curfew till June 20


The Andhra Pradesh government announced on Monday that the ongoing Covid curfew in the state will end on Jan.

Andhra Pradesh Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced on Monday that the current curfew in the state will be extended until June 20. The decision was made at a review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister.

However, curfew easing times have been changed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will apply from June 10. The curfew has been imposed from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. until now.

CM Jagan Reddy also directed officers to set up pediatric wards in all teaching hospitals according to national standards in order to provide better medical care to the children.

The prime minister also instructed officials to inspect primary health care centers, procure needed medication and hire more doctors in the face of the looming third wave of Covid-19.

He directed officers to set up three pediatric care centers in the Vishakapatnam, Tirupati and Krishna-Guntur regions.

At the meeting, the CM also highlightedhe improvement of the state’s Covid situation. The positivity rate dropped from 25.56 percent on May 16 to 10.73 percent this month, and the active cases dropped from 2.11 lakh to 1.23 lakh. The recycling rate has risen to 92.33 percent.
