The business teacher has now been arrested on the basis of a complaint from a former student who alleged she was subjected to sexual harassment at the school where she studied from 2014 to 2016.

The Kilpauk All Women Police Station has opened a detailed investigation into the incident. The investigation revealed that the defendant sexually molested the survivor, and the teacher was arrested.

In the last few weeks Teachers from at least five schools in Chennai were either arrested or suspended on charges of sexual harassment.

It started when a teacher from one of Chennai’s top schools was arrested after students and alumni discussed how he sexually molested them. The teacher allegedly appears in a towel to the online class and also sends them inappropriate pictures.

When cases of sexual harassment of students during online classes became known in Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister MK Stalin issued a series of instructions to the authorities to regulate and streamline virtual classes.

This included a recording of the online lessons by the respective school management and their regular review by a committee made up of members of the institution and the parent-teacher association.
