Archery World Cup Stage 3: Deepika Kumari completes hat-trick of gold medals in Paris


Deepika Kumari defeated Elena Osipova from Russia 6-0 in the final and won her third gold medal at the tournament. Deepika has also won the top prize in the mixed team and women’s individual recurve events.

Superstar athlete Deepika Kumari completed a gold medal hat-trick in the third stage of the Archery World Cup in Paris on Sunday after winning the women’s individual recurve.

Deepika Kumari defeated Elena Osipova from Russia 6-0 in the final and won her third gold medal at the tournament. Deepika has also won the top prize in the mixed team and women’s individual recurve events.

Together with her husband Atanu Das, she defeated the Dutch duo Sjef van den Berg and Gabriela Schloesser 5-3.

“It feels great. The first time we play together (in the final) and won together, I feel so happy,” said Atanu after her win. “We feel like we are made for each other. But on the ground we are not a couple, but like other competitors we motivate, support and support each other.”

The two married after two years of advertising and would celebrate their first wedding anniversary on June 30th.

Previously, Deepika, Ankita Bhakat and Komalika defeated Bari Mexico to win gold in the women’s recurve team event. In a replay of the first-round World Cup final, world number 3 troika Deepika, Ankita and Komalika, who failed to qualify for Tokyo after a shock loss to Colombia, defeated popular Mexico 5-1 without winning a set to lose.

This was her second gold medal in a row in the World Cup this year and the sixth in the overall ranking (Shanghai-2011, Medellin-2013, Wroclaw-2013, Wroclaw-2014, Guatemala-City-2021). Deepika was a constant every time.
